AHMAD AHMAD UNSEATS ISSA HAYATOU AS CAF PRESIDENT

Issa Hayatou’s 29-year reign as president of Confederation of African Football came to a shocking end today after Madagascar Football Association’s Chief, Ahmad Ahmad was elected as the new president to occupy the seat.

At the end of election held in Addis Ababa on Thursday, Ahmad pulled a total of 34 votes to Hayatou’s 20 out of 54 votes cast.

Many see the Cameroonian’s departure as good news which will make way for change in African football something the Madagascan has promised to bring on the table.

The surprising aspect of the election is the vivid gap Ahmad gave Hayatou ending his hope of getting his eighth term in office hence losing his position also at Fifa.
