The former England international revealed how he has to go through a lot after the death of his wife Rebecca Ellison through breast cancer.
Speaking to The Times Magazine the sportsman shared the agonizing experience his wife’s departure brought on him to the extent he considered suicide at some point due to the low moment he found himself in.
The 38-year-old is now playing the role of a father and mother to their children; Lorenzo, 10, Tate, 8, and Tia, 5. he said it isn’t an easy task to be faced with having to tell the kids how they are not going to see their mum again.
Lorenz and Tate do not want to talk about it to simply avoid the temptation of making him sad but Tia talks about her mum because she is too young to come to terms with it.
He said: ‘At the time you think: “I’m coping”. You’re sitting there, the kids are in bed, you can’t sleep, but you don’t want to think about anything. That’s when the problems start. I never understood suicide.
