Many Ghana Music Industry players won’t be surprised at Lamisi’s solo career with this new single she calls “Tanka Fanka”.
Born Regina Lamisi Awiniman Anabilla Akuka, she is one of the powerful voices who’s played on various major Ghanaian live band sets. Lamisi who is still with her Band (Patch Bay Band), soothes in this first single “Tanka Fanka”, a phrase coined from the Hausa parlance which means “forget everyone and stay focused”. This single, produced by Adangba is tipped to officially introduce the silky voice Singer’s solo career.
Majoring in Afrobeats, Lamisi has consistently played with the Patch Bay Band on the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) for the past 6 years, but has professionally been a lead singer for 7 years.
Lamisi is a very energetic who has done background vocals for huge Ghanaian Artistes of international appeal like Rocky Dawuni, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Samini, Amandzeba, Atongo, Becca, just to name a few. She did for Patoranking (Nigeria) and Lady May (Namibia) as well. She also featured on Ghana’s 1st Reggae/Dancehall Compilation project by Irie Ites Studio in 2016 (Irie Jamz Compilation – Volume 1). The world should watch out for more fusion records/Afropop sound from Lamisi, thus, blending African rhythms with western sound for global appeal.
