WORLD FAMILY DOCTOR DAY LAUNCHED IN GHANA – MRS SAMIRA BAWUMIA CALLS FOR A UNITED FRONT AGAINST SUICIDE

The second lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs. Samira Bawumia was a special guest of honour at the launch of World Family Doctor Day on May 19, 2017 with attention on “Depression and Suicide – The role of a Family Physician”.

Recent cases of suicide reported across some campuses in the country have called for the effort of many agencies helping speak to students, children but, starting from family since the child’s first point of interaction is there before friends and society.

Mrs. Samira urged everyone to commit to the fight against suicide, her speech mainly based on mother’s perspective of it.

Acting Director at the Accra Pschiatric Hospital, Dr. Pinamang Appau reiterate that “Depression can be treated and suicide can be prevented”.
